The Long Weekend

It's Labor Day weekend...we should go on a road trip! Let's go to Kansas City for the night...or Oklahoma City to the Science museum, or maybe Greensburg to see the new 'green' town and the Big Well. The possibilities are endless!

Gas in the car? Check. Extra clothes packed? Check. Snacks at Quik Trip for everyone? Check. Animals fed? Check. Oh...wait. Dog needs to be let out. It's 112 degrees outside so he can't stay outside all day and night. Um....change of plans.

Stop at Quik Trip for some snacks, and take the fam to Exploration Place for the day. Rode in an airplane, played with 10,000 kano blocks, saw real moving dinosaurs, and ran around in the castle play area for a while. Went to lunch at McDonald's (a rare treat for us), then saw a dinosaur movie in the dome theater. Then we went to Dillons and made fresh peanut butter in the new peanut grinding machine and got some sushi for the kids to try for the first time. Brought it home and ate with with chopsticks while watching a movie...all in all, a fun filled day, even if we didn't leave town to do it.

The next day we went to the outdoor water park at a different YMCA that we've never been to, took the inner tubes down the lazy river, got water dumped on our heads from a huge bucket, and got to try the diving board for the first time...and I got a tan - bonus! Both kids are like little fish now, I'm keeping an eye out for some fins sprouting.

And on the Monday holiday our good friend Robin took some more family pictures of us. The ones of the kids individually can count as school pictures too, cool! These are some of the silly ones...they are my favorites.
