Those of you who know "daddy" know that he can make friends with anyone, in any place, in any amount of time, in any circumstance...and here is no exception. Every day when we walk somewhere he sees someone he "knows" and stops to chat with them...and invariably he gets some sort of a deal on something. It's the sparkle in his eye, I'm pretty sure. That's how he got me 13 years ago. :)
The gym: he's one of the "regulars" now, along with Tibi, Monika, Bence, Attila. A couple of people have asked me, pointing to Daddy "Fitness?" I guess that's asking "Does he work out?" Ha. We see these people all over town, and always have someone to say hi to.
The B52 Cafe: Boo Boo is the owner, Istevan (Steve) is the bartender who seems to be there every single day. Daddy pays a visit to whoop them at foosball every few days, and helps Steve with his English. Boo Boo came in from the pool one day and Steve pointed to him "Boo Boo no fitness" as if to compare. Lol. Many more funny quotes that I can't post....it's quite entertaining though.
Souvenir Kiosk: Nora, the owner of several kiosks at the nearby market area is our newest friend. I bought some sunglasses for $7 and she made my day by giving me a free soft case...and of course Daddy introduced us and made some small talk and complimented her on her English. He makes friends so easily.
The Pool Guy: From 9am - 7pm all week at the pool outside our patio, one of two guys supervises. He sits on a chair facing our patio and stares at us a lot of the time. I thought he was the lifeguard, but whenever there are little kids unattended in the pool he's either on his phone or walking off to clean something...so I don't think that's his purpose. Anyways, he always looked really bored, and whenever he would see little kids running around the yard he would give them cookies or candies. Monkey made friends with him and started spending a couple hours a day playing cards or kicking the ball with him. I was so proud of him, it took a lot of courage to go over with a deck of cards and ask him to play, being that he didn't speak a word of English. Monkey has been teaching him English, he tells me. The best part? His name is actually "Yoshi"! Imagine the excitement for Monkey, being that Mario and Yoshi are his favorite video game characters. Monkey has started helping him do chores every night at close, like sweeping up and checking chemicals...and has even gotten to go down to the secret underground pipe place.
The Montreys: The other family who is here adopting has become good friends, and we hang out with them every few days. Each of us has a member of the family who we get along great with. Princess has warmed up to the little Hungarian girls, mostly the littlest ones and we see them talking and playing now. We'll actually be in Budapest for a day or two together as well at the end of the process. We've had lunch together at our apartment, and once at their apartment
Macskababa: (baby cat) The only friend I've made on my own is the cat. I still miss the darn cat!
Overall, people here are extremely hospitable and nice... they seem really generous and honest.
Not so sure about the sketchy pool guy and his "secret underground pipe place." But that's hilarious how they point to your hubby and say "fitness?" LOL!
