Sinking In...

We've been getting along great, giggling a lot and doing everything together, learning new things, and our facilitators have done a fantastic job explaining to Princess that we are her forever family, and that we love her, etc. But tonight I think it really "sank in" for her.

"Apa" (daddy) had some quality time with her before bed tonight, while I read some of Archimedes & the Door of Science to Monkey along with some cuddles. He had her on his lap in front of the laptop, so that Google translate was handy to assist in the conversation. Freshly scrubbed from her shower, clean pj's on, and a full belly from a snack of peaches with honey and cinnamon, she was in that perfect mood to just listen and connect. Daddy has a gift to talk and connect with people, and tonight he was a master communicator - and we agree that God showed up for a divine appointment in a big way tonight. His peace could literally be felt in the room, and her guard was let down completely, and you could see in her eyes that she really, truly understood. And she was truly happy and excited at the prospect of being in our family and being loved, forever.

Daddy explained to her that each of us loves her, "mindig" (always), and that everything in our life is now hers. She has a house, a cat, a dog, a brother, grandparents, aunts, cars to ride in, toys...and he pulled out our picture book to share with her again. Up until now she has been mostly disinterested in the book when we tried to share it with her. Now she grabbed it eagerly out of daddy's hands and started flipping through it with a big smile, asking questions as she went. Her eyes were sparkling like never before, and it was like it just CLICKED for her. She has a real daddy and mommy to love her always.

We've been praying for real connection, and tonight God showed up. Maybe you believe in that sort of thing, maybe not. But the miracles we've been witnessing through this entire process are unmistakable to us. Tonight was a big breakthrough, and I believe that it had everything to do with God working in a little heart, in answer to so many prayers.

Here's some of our picture book that was made almost a year and a half ago...and translated in Spanish since we had first pursued adoption in South America. The Hungary switch happened so fast that we didn't have time to reprint it...but it's just the pictures that matter anyway, right?

Thank you for your prayers :)
