The Good, The Bad, & The Muggy

I don't want to brag, but I'm one of the best assistant fort builders in Europe right now, rivaled only by Sydney upstairs. Today we had a double-decker, two room fort that was cosy enough to eat snacks and watch a movie in. Daddy and I even fit in it! That was good fun.

Geocaching: I looked up our area on geocaching.com to see if there are any hidden treasures around. We found two that have been on our usual route, right under our noses the whole time! Monkey and I went in search of them, and found one! Good :)

Tonight we ventured into a new part of town, after Googling "restaurants" to see what we were missing. We discovered Lorena Panzio & Etterem...trying out 3 different soups.

One would fit in the "bad" category today: Meat Bone Soup & Vermicelli. My first clue should have been "meat bone"...what is that anyway? This is how it looked when was served to us...and this is exactly how it looked when the waitress cleared it from the table too, lol. Not quite sure what we were supposed to do with those bones..dip them in the soup? Monkey liked the vermicelli anyway.

Here's a word search for you...can you find the most interesting menu item? Pretty sure I'll pass on those.

The other dishes were amazing though, and they would put this restaurant on our "good" list for future reference. Chicken & vege stew in bread bowl, French Onion soup in bread bowl, and Chicken with apple and walnut chutney and honey dumplings that came with a little vege sculpture. Good!!
And the "muggy"...our wall unit A/C stopped working last week, and it's getting hot again. The Montreys blessed us with one of their fans which will at least keep us sane. At least we have a pool to jump in any time!

Random semi-interesting tidbit: Pictures of the money here, "Forints". About 200 per $1. We've learned it's best to always go to "Exclusive Change" places to exchange, and get a loyalty card that lowers the fee (about 1%). It may have been best to watch the exchange rates a couple months before our trip and bring Forints instead of dollars. The only place that takes dollars is our driver and our landlord.

Fun walk home tonight: All along the sidewalk there are little markets. We picked up some peaches and lemons so I can make peach lemonade again tomorrow.

This is another cute "Apartman" on the walk home. Such cute neighborhoods, with people constantly walking and riding bikes everywhere. Always a fruit stand or a little market within a couple blocks of wherever you are.

  1. Spicy Brains!!!! As opposed to Bland, I guess. My dad said they'd eat the brains, and just about every other part of slaughtered animals. I'm going to guess that with the meat bones, you would scoop the marrow out to eat? Either that, or take them home to give to the family dogs.
